Philadelphia police have identified Zymire Hughes, 22, as the suspect accused of chasing a woman and terrorizing other individuals while wearing a Chucky doll mask. Hughes is believed to be on the run, with authorities stating he may have fled the state and has connections to California and Nevada.
The initial incident involved Hughes allegedly chasing a 40-year-old female jogger during her early morning run around 5:30 a.m. last Wednesday. Video released by the Philadelphia Police Department shows the masked man pursuing the woman, making threatening comments and causing her to stumble and sustain an injury. The suspect changed his course multiple times to continue the pursuit as the jogger attempted to evade him.
Police stated that Hughes allegedly terrorized multiple people in the community, reportedly laughing at his victims and asking if they were "ready to die." A second victim, who identified herself as Jameka, claimed that the suspect appeared to be filming these encounters with his cell phone. She reported that Hughes approached her shortly after he had chased another woman.
Jameka recounted that she warned the other woman about the suspect and that the woman began to run. Hughes then reportedly attempted to enter a local coffee shop but was denied entry. He then turned his attention to Jameka, who put up her hands in a defensive stance. She described the suspect as appearing "disoriented" and stated that he ran away after she kicked him.
Investigators released photos of the suspect, showing him wearing the Chucky mask and a blue plaid backpack. He is expected to face several serious charges once apprehended.
The Philadelphia Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding Hughes' identity or whereabouts to contact them at 215-686-8477.
