A Philadelphia man was arrested in New Jersey on charges of attempted aggravated assault and human trafficking after allegedly attempting to meet two children for sexual purposes, authorities announced. Nazim X. Torres, 27, was taken into custody on August 12 in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.
According to prosecutors, Torres initiated contact with an undercover officer on a mobile dating application on July 14. The conversation later moved to a different texting platform, where Torres allegedly admitted to being a "pedo" with a fetish for children and viewing child sexual abuse material.
Prosecutors stated that Torres had arranged to meet the undercover officer at a Mount Laurel hotel, planning to pay $200 for sexual contact with two children. New Jersey State Police apprehended Torres at the hotel shortly after his arrival.
Torres faces multiple charges, including two counts of second-degree attempted aggravated assault. "As this case demonstrates, we will use all tools available to pursue people who target, exploit, traffic, and abuse children," said New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport.
