Philadelphia 76ers fans expressed their frustration during halftime of the team's home opener on Thursday night, directing loud boos at the entertainment act as the team trailed the Cleveland Cavaliers by 24 points. The halftime performer, known as Light Man, was met with a vociferous negative reaction from the crowd at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.

"Well, the Sixers are down 24. This talented, creative gentleman got booed a big portion of his act," play-by-play announcer Mike Breen observed during the ESPN broadcast, noting the palpable tension in the arena. "They’re just not in the frame of mind for this kind of entertainment. But he’ll get another chance, hopefully."

Kyle Neubeck, a Sixers reporter for Phly Sports, described the incident as unprecedented in his experience covering the league. "Tonight’s halftime act got outright booed, which is definitely a first for me covering the league," Neubeck posted on X.

Despite the difficult first half, the Sixers, led by LeBron James, staged a significant comeback in the second half. They managed to cut a 29-point deficit to 10 points by the third quarter and ultimately secured a 114-106 victory, improving their season record to 2-0.

James, 41, contributed 17 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists to the win, along with three steals. The guard Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 32 points and six assists, while center Joel Embiid added 24 points.

Following the game, James was asked about recent comments made by President Donald Trump, who had criticized him for not standing for the national anthem on opening night. James responded with a chuckle, stating, "It must be a slow news day at the office, you know? Slow news day in the office."

The 76ers are scheduled to host the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
