Phil Collins and Paul McCartney End 24-Year Feud

Musician Phil Collins has revealed that he and Sir Paul McCartney have ended a 24-year feud, stemming from an incident at the Queen's Golden Jubilee concert in 2002. The tension arose after Collins felt "patronized" by McCartney during a backstage exchange when Collins asked him to sign a copy of a Beatles memoir.

Collins detailed the encounter in his 2016 memoir, recounting that he felt McCartney's response, "He's a big Beatles fan is our little Phil," was condescending. This led to a prolonged period of frostiness between the two artists, with McCartney emailing Collins to call his comments "sanctimonious" after reading about the incident in an interview promoting the book. Collins admitted that he wished he had never written about the exchange.

The reconciliation occurred earlier this year when McCartney reached out to Collins for assistance with a charity auction. During their phone conversation, Collins apologized for his past remarks. He stated that they "kissed and made up," and that McCartney explained he thought they had been on good terms.

Collins, 75, was serving as the house drummer for most performers at the 2002 concert at Buckingham Palace, playing with a wide array of musicians. He explained that McCartney and Brian Wilson had their own bands and did not require his services.

Collins also recently reflected on his battle with alcoholism, sharing that his daughter Lily Collins expressed fears he would die from his struggles. The Genesis star had a near-fatal experience with alcohol consumption two years ago, requiring life support in a Swiss hospital.
