PhD Student Accused in Infant Twin Deaths Changes Plea, Claims Compulsion

Nicole Virzi, a PhD student accused of the death of six-week-old infant Leon Katz and the severe injury of his twin brother Ari, has reportedly changed her story and confessed to harming the babies.

Virzi, who was previously steadfast in her denial of any wrongdoing, now claims she acted under a compulsion she could not control. According to reports, she told police that from a very young age, she experienced an urge to hurt children.

Baby Leon sustained multiple and fatal skull fractures, which caused his death. His brother, Ari, was taken to the hospital with mysterious injuries. Virzi reportedly told authorities, "I did not want Leon to die. That was not my goal. I just wanted him to feel a little pain." She also stated that she had suffered from anxiety, depression, and an eating disorder.

Savannah and Ethan Katz, the parents of the twins, were best friends with Virzi. The prosecution is reportedly seeking the death penalty for Virzi, who faces charges including criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of children.

Virzi, a PhD student, now faces trial for these alleged crimes. Her reported confession details a long-standing compulsion to harm children, which she claims to have been unable to control.
