Wyndham Clark, a top-ranked PGA Tour player, has publicly indicated plans to propose to his girlfriend, Emily Tanner, following the conclusion of the PGA Tour season. Clark, 32, revealed his intention to propose during an interview discussing his upcoming time off. The couple plans to travel to Cabo for a getaway after the Tour Championship.
Clark has experienced a highly successful year on the PGA Tour, achieving three significant victories: the CJ Byron Nelson Cup, the U.S. Open, and the BMW Championship. These wins have solidified his position as the world's third-ranked golfer, behind Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, and have led to discussions about him potentially winning Player of the Year.
The golfer's recent success has coincided with his relationship with influencer Emily Tanner. The couple met in January and made their relationship public at the Masters Par-3 contest in April. Tanner has attended all three of Clark's victories this season.
Tanner, 31, shared in an Instagram Q&A that she and Clark connected online through mutual friends. She described their relationship as developing quickly, stating, "We met end of January and fell pretty fast. We're super similar and we get along so well."
She was present to celebrate Clark's first win of the season in May near Dallas, expressing her pride on social media. Days before Clark's BMW Championship win, Tanner announced her decision to relocate from California to be with him. In an Instagram video posted on August 20, she stated, "I think one of the most special parts about falling in love is realizing that the life you've pictured for yourself can completely change when you find someone that you want to build it with."
Clark has also credited Tanner with contributing to his improved performance, noting that she helps him stay present and avoid worrying. Following his successful season, which includes upcoming commitments in the Presidents Cup in Japan and a tournament in South Africa, Clark expressed optimism about his personal future, stating, "Hopefully get engaged and then going to South Africa for a tournament as well."
When asked for more details regarding the engagement, Clark responded, "Hopefully, she says yes."
