The PGA Tour is not planning to offer an immediate return for golfers who joined the LIV Golf league, according to PGA Tour Commissioner Brian Rolapp. This stance signals a robust approach to golfers who previously defected, ruling out any quick reintegration akin to past offers.
Rolapp stated on Tuesday that the tour is not currently contemplating a return-member program similar to one offered in January. He emphasized that the focus for everyone at the PGA Tour, including himself, has been on what is best for the organization.
This means that golfers such as Jon Rahm, Cameron Smith, and Bryson DeChambeau, who declined an opportunity to return eight months ago, will likely face a different path back. Under current PGA Tour rules, this would involve a minimum 12-month wait since their last LIV start and likely require qualification through the DP World Tour.
Rahm, currently playing in the BMW Championship at Wentworth, indicated that clarity on his future might not come until November. He noted that a lengthy legal process involving LIV must conclude before many aspects of player futures can be finalized. "Nothing's changed," Rahm said. "There's a long legal process they have to go through before a lot of things fall into place. I really can't give you an answer right now."
He added, "Hopefully I'll play good this week, and at the end of the year, whether we play in Abu Dhabi, Dubai or elsewhere, so until this current season is done (in November), I really won't be able to give you an answer."
