A petrol station worker has died after being allegedly run over by a stranger while working at a United Petroleum service station on NSW's Mid North Coast. The 36-year-old man, from Coffs Harbour, was reportedly checking fuel tank levels when he was struck by a ute last week.
Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW, and NSW SES, attended the scene to assist the man. Paramedics rendered first aid before he was transported to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a critical condition. He was subsequently airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
Police arrested and charged a 44-year-old woman, the alleged driver of the ute, with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and breach of bail. On Sunday, authorities were informed that the man had died from his injuries.
