Peter Krause is returning to television with "Line of Fire," a new NBC procedural premiering this fall, less than two years after his departure from "9-1-1." Krause, who played Bobby Nash on the ABC series for eight seasons, said the decision to join "Line of Fire" was primarily driven by a compelling script.

"What drew me to this show was the script," Krause stated during the NBCUniversal Backlot Pass Day. He credited his agents at CAA for encouraging him to read the material. A virtual meeting with showrunner Josh Safran further solidified his interest, as it became clear they could collaborate effectively.

In "Line of Fire," Krause portrays a U.S. Secret Service agent tasked with protecting families. He found the role appealing due to the inherent sacrifices and responsibilities involved in safeguarding high-profile individuals. The series also benefits from the involvement of executive producer Jenna Bush Hager.

Hager, whose father was President George W. Bush, drew on her personal experience and connected with a former Secret Service agent to consult on the series. This consultation provided insights into the character Krause plays, Mike Hollingsworth. Krause mentioned that the consultant, Steve, even offered feedback on President Bush's punctuality.

"Line of Fire" centers on the Hollingsworth family, whose members work across various law enforcement and government agencies, including the FBI, U.S. Marshals, and the Department of Justice. This familial connection means their professional and personal lives frequently intersect.

Hager noted that the concept of a family where members prioritize public service resonates with her firsthand observations. The show aims to explore the dynamic of individuals who repeatedly put others before themselves and the resulting complications within their own families.

"We talked about this dynamic of a family of people that are putting other people first in many circumstances, and therefore, what happens in their own family is complicated," Hager said. "And I thought, ‘That’s something that I’ve witnessed, you know?'"

The series is expected to delve into the challenges and intricacies that arise from such a career path and its impact on family life, drawing parallels to shows like "9-1-1" and "Blue Bloods." Krause and the production team hope audiences will embrace the Hollingsworth family's story.

"Line of Fire" is set to premiere on NBC on September 21 and will be available the next day on Peacock. Peacock offers two subscription tiers: Premium with ads for $10.99 per month and Premium Plus ad-free for $16.99 per month. Annual plans are available at discounted rates, offering 12 months for the price of 10.
