Pete Alonso will play at Citi Field for the first time since joining the Baltimore Orioles, facing his former team in a three-game series that begins tonight, September 14. The game is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET.
Alonso, who spent his entire Major League Baseball career with the Mets until signing with the Orioles in free agency, is one home run shy of reaching 300 career homers. During his tenure with the Mets, Alonso won NL Rookie of the Year in 2019, became a franchise icon, and broke the team's home run record in August 2025 with his 264th blast. He is coming off another 35-homer season.
Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is also on the cusp of the 300-homer milestone, sitting one home run away after hitting two homers in the Mets' previous game on Saturday.
"It better be electric," Lindor said regarding Alonso's return. "I hope people go crazy for him. He deserves it."
