Pete Alonso Continues to Haunt Former Team with Second Consecutive Home Run

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Pete Alonso hit his 301st career home run on Wednesday, continuing his impactful performance against his former team, the New York Mets. The blast came one day after Alonso hit his 300th career home run in dramatic fashion during the ninth inning of Tuesday's game.

On Wednesday, Alonso connected with a 2-2 curveball from Mets pitcher Xzavion Curry, sending the ball an estimated 410 feet into the second deck in left field at Citi Field. The ball had an exit velocity of 108.4 mph. Alonso received a mix of cheers and some boos from the Mets fanbase as he rounded the bases.

Alonso's 300th career home run on Tuesday tied the game in the ninth inning against Mets pitcher Kodai Senga. The Orioles eventually won that game in extra innings.

Following Tuesday's milestone home run, Alonso acknowledged the Mets fans and gave them a curtain call. "Everyone in the dugout was saying, ‘Go out there,’ and they were right,” Alonso said. “I appreciate all the support. Especially all the years I’ve been here, all the life I’ve lived here. Obviously appreciate that, and it’s a two-way street."

Alonso also met with three Mets fans who caught the ball from his 300th home run, offering them autographs and drinks, and extending an invitation to an Orioles game in Baltimore.

Mets pitcher Sean Manaea commented on the unusual reception Alonso received from the Citi Field crowd. "I love him to death, but as a team, as the 2026 Mets — I know we have definitely underperformed,” Manaea said. “But the guys in here work their ass off every single day. To have that kind of reaction to an opposing player — it could be anybody — is crazy to me.”
