Pete Alonso Connects with Fans After 300th Home Run
Former Mets star trades milestone ball for memorabilia and offers of future hospitality to three fans.
Pete Alonso, in his first season with the Baltimore Orioles, recently connected with three Mets fans who retrieved his 300th career home run ball at Citi Field. The former Mets first baseman met with the fans after the game on September 15, 2026, during which his ninth-inning blast tied the score against his former team. The Orioles ultimately won the game 7-5 in 11 innings.
During the post-game exchange, Alonso autographed jerseys, baseballs, and bats for the fans. He also offered them tickets and VIP passes to future Orioles games at Camden Yards. Videos showed Alonso bringing beers to the fans and posing for a photo with them.
Alonso, who played seven seasons with the Mets and is their all-time home run leader, signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Orioles in the offseason. His milestone home run was met with a standing ovation from the home crowd, along with chants directed at Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns.
The Orioles' victory helped them narrow the gap in the American League wild-card race, while the Mets have been eliminated from postseason contention.
