Peta Murgatroyd, a familiar face from "Dancing With the Stars," has shared that her family is experiencing a "great lifestyle" in Florida following their relocation from Los Angeles over the summer. Murgatroyd, alongside her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy, expressed their affection for Florida, noting that Boca Raton, their chosen city, offers "the best of everything."
The couple, who share three sons—Shai, 9, Rio, 3, and Milan, 2—cited several reasons for the cross-country move. Murgatroyd highlighted the presence of "really top-rated schools" and "amazing sports" facilities for their children. Despite initial concerns about the Florida heat, she has found herself content with the change, acknowledging that while California will always be a significant part of their history, the move to Florida is currently what their family needs.
Murgatroyd also spoke positively about their new community, describing neighbors as "very sweet, very nice, very accommodating." She contrasted this with her past experiences in Los Angeles, noting that her sons are now experiencing a childhood with more outdoor play and spontaneous activities, such as neighborhood children inviting them to play outside. "I wanted Shai to have the childhood that I had and I can see it happening," she stated, emphasizing the convenience and positive environment for her children.
The decision to move was detailed in a YouTube video in June, where Murgatroyd described it as "the best decision" for their young family. In social media posts at the time, she reflected on the emotional aspects of leaving their familiar life in Los Angeles, stating, "But sometimes you have to leave what's comfortable to find what's meant for you." The couple, who married in 2017, had previously lived in an $18,000-a-month home in Los Angeles but felt it was time for "new things, new life and new adventures."
