Perth Retiree Wins Lottery for Second Time, Eight Years After $10 Million Jackpot
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, followed the same weekly routine that led to her previous massive win.
A retiree in Perth, Australia, has achieved a remarkable feat, winning a $200,000 lottery prize eight years after claiming a $10 million OZ Lotto jackpot. Both winning tickets were purchased from the same local newsagency.
The anonymous woman, who resides in Perth's eastern suburbs, claimed her latest prize this week after purchasing a Scratch'n'Win ticket. She initially found it difficult to believe her luck, thinking she might have miscounted the zeros.
"I thought I must have been seeing things, I kept looking at the ticket because I thought I'd added an extra zero in my head," she stated. "I can't believe we've won twice, what are the chances?"
She revealed that she adheres to a consistent weekly ritual, buying two lottery tickets and two $1 scratch tickets. She often makes these purchases with her adult son, who lives at home and is currently recovering from health challenges. On this occasion, her son decided to buy a $10 ticket first, prompting her to purchase one simultaneously so they could scratch them together.
"It was meant to be a bonding moment, I really never imagined I'd be celebrating another major prize!" she said.
In 2018, the woman used her substantial winnings to pay off her family home and secure her retirement. For her most recent windfall, she plans to use the $200,000 to further support her family and explore future investment opportunities, rather than making immediate purchases.
"We don't need to rush out and buy anything, but this gives us a chance to help our family and learn a bit more about investing for the future," she explained.
This win occurs amidst a period of notable lottery luck in Western Australia. Just weeks prior, twin brothers from Albany reportedly claimed their second major lottery prize, worth $1 million, in under two years. The 65-year-old brothers had already utilized their February 2025 Set for Life prize, which enabled them to buy their sister's home in Albany, before experiencing another significant win.
