Perth Father, a Cancer Charity Cyclist, Killed in Suspected Hit-and-Run

A Perth father, identified as 40-year-old Joseph Paratore, died Tuesday in a suspected hit-and-run incident. The collision occurred around 5:20 a.m. on North Lake Road in Bibra Lake, with Mr. Paratore succumbing to his injuries at the scene.

Mr. Paratore, who recently completed a 200-kilometer cycling fundraiser for cancer research, had participated in the MACA Cancer 200 Ride for the Perkins for the fourth time this month, raising $982. The funds support the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, with his contribution noted as being equivalent to four hours of life-saving research.

A social media post from earlier in the year showed Mr. Paratore celebrating his 40th birthday with his wife and two sons. His death was described by WestCycle as a "devastating reminder of the vulnerability of people riding on our roads and the profound impact such incidents have on families, friends and the wider community."

Major Crash investigators with the Western Australia Police Force are continuing their inquiries into the fatal collision. The vehicle involved has not yet been located. Police are seeking information about the driver of a white 4WD seen in the vicinity of the crash around the time of the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers or upload information through the Force Evidence Submission Portal.
