Perez Hilton’s Sister Details ‘Meltdown’ in 911 Call
Newly released audio captures Barbara Lavandeira describing her brother as “covered in blood” during an apparent self-harm incident.
Perez Hilton’s sister, Barbara Lavandeira, provided new details about the celebrity blogger’s mental health crisis in a 911 call, describing him as “covered in blood” and “suicidal” during an incident in August. The audio, obtained by TMZ, reveals Lavandeira’s calm but concerned account to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office dispatcher.
According to the call, Lavandeira stated that Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira Jr., was “cutting himself” the week prior to the call. At the time of the 911 call, she described him as “all cut up” and bleeding, though she could not pinpoint the exact location of his injuries. She informed the dispatcher that Hilton was awake and in the bathroom, and confirmed he was breathing.
Lavandeira, who had stepped outside the house with her daughter and Hilton’s three children present, indicated she did not believe Hilton posed a threat to anyone else. She mentioned he may have had a box cutter or a knife, but could not confirm the object he was using.
The incident occurred after Hilton live-streamed a video on TikTok that appeared to show him engaging in self-harm. Authorities responded to what was described as a “suicide attempt,” and Hilton was hospitalized, reportedly sustaining injuries that required surgery and significant blood loss.
Following the incident, Hilton’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, was granted temporary custody of his children: Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8. Hilton has since been transferred to a local residential treatment facility, according to a blog post on his website. The post stated that he was processing the events and learning coping mechanisms. He has since had supervised visits with his children, described as meaningful opportunities for him and his family.
Barbara Lavandeira had previously shared with Page Six that August 4 was “one of the darkest days my family and I have ever experienced.”
