Perez Hilton's mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has filed to obtain temporary custody of his three children in the wake of a self-harm livestream incident. Lavandeira submitted a petition in a Miami family court on August 7, seeking to temporarily assume custody of Hilton's children: Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight.

Hilton, 48, was hospitalized last Tuesday after police responded to emergency calls concerning a potential suicide attempt. Footage from the livestream appeared to show him with blood on his face and body after he had reportedly cut himself with a knife. His team later stated that his children were safe and being cared for by immediate family.

According to a statement shared to Hilton's website, his three children, along with his niece and sister Barbara Lavandeira, were present in his Florida home in the moments leading up to the livestream. The family reportedly left the residence to shield the children from witnessing further trauma during what was described as a severe mental health crisis.

Hilton's team revealed that he sustained significant blood loss and unspecified additional injuries, requiring surgery. He remains hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act, a law that permits involuntary commitment for individuals deemed at risk of harming themselves or others. The act allows for commitments of up to 72 hours and requires a mental health evaluation.

The statement indicated that Hilton's communication has been limited to immediate family, medical providers, and those involved in his care. His condition is described as serious but stable, with recovery expected to be a long process. He was able to spend time with his mother and sister on Friday. Surveillance footage from a neighbor's property captured law enforcement's arrival at Hilton's Miami residence after concerned fans contacted 911.
