Police were dispatched to the Miami home of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on Tuesday evening after receiving multiple emergency calls regarding his conduct during a TikTok livestream. The Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office confirmed deputies responded to the residence following reports of alleged self-harm. Clips from the livestream, which could not be independently verified by this publication, reportedly showed Hilton covered in blood and holding a knife. Deputies communicated with family members at the scene and determined Hilton was alone inside his home. The sheriff's office stated they decided to "tactically disengage" while continuing to monitor the situation, prioritizing de-escalation techniques. "In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication," the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office told the Daily Mail. "Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public." Authorities stated that deputies had disengaged from the immediate scene but would continue to monitor the situation and provide support to Hilton's family.
