Perez Hilton's Friend Launches GoFundMe for Blogger's Children Amid Treatment

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by a close friend of blogger Perez Hilton to support his three children and mother as he undergoes treatment following a suicide attempt in early August. Tony-winning producer Tom D’Angora, a friend of Hilton’s for 14 years, organized the fundraiser with a goal of $25,000.

“All funds raised will benefit Perez’s mother and children only and help cover the additional costs of caring for three kids full-time,” D’Angora stated on the GoFundMe page. The funds are designated solely for the care of Hilton’s children—Mario, Mia, and Mayte—and his mother, Teresita Lavandeira.

D’Angora clarified that "none of the money will be used for Perez personally." He also noted that Lavandeira has "put much of her own life on hold to make sure the kids can continue going to school, participating in their normal activities, and having as much consistency as possible during an incredibly difficult time."

On August 4, Hilton, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, Jr., was hospitalized after live-streaming an incident of self-harm. His children, sister, and niece were reportedly present in the home at the time and left when the situation escalated.

Following the incident, Hilton's family stated he had suffered significant blood loss and other injuries requiring surgery, including several broken bones. He spent over a month in the hospital before entering a residential treatment program.

Hilton’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of the children on August 12, which Hilton voluntarily consented to. He was later granted supervised visitation.

In a statement released earlier this week, Hilton's family announced his entry into the residential treatment program, stating it allows him to "focus fully on his mental health and recovery." The family anticipates he will remain in treatment for several more weeks, with the duration determined by his medical team. Their current priority is to provide the children with stability and routine during their father's recovery.
