Perez Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., continues to receive care at an inpatient mental health facility following a self-harm incident earlier this month. An update shared on his website, PerezHilton.com, stated that a team of medical and mental health professionals is attending to the 48-year-old.

The statement also expressed gratitude for the messages of support for Hilton and his family, emphasizing that his health remains the priority. The website indicated that it would resume publishing this week.

This latest update follows news that Hilton was treated for a potential overdose by first responders after a livestream on August 4, during which he appeared covered in blood. His sister, Barbara Lavandeira, provided an account of the events, describing finding him in his bathroom with a box cutter. She recounted removing his children and niece from the home before calling 911.

Lavandeira stated that her brother had locked himself in his bedroom, which was unusual. After she was unable to get a response, she entered the bathroom and found him in distress. She described his appearance as unrecognizable and that he smiled at her in a way that made her feel she was looking at someone else.

Following the incident, Hilton's mother filed a petition in Miami family court seeking temporary custody of his three children: Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight. Hilton's team confirmed he is hospitalized under Florida's Baker Act, which allows for involuntary commitment for individuals deemed a risk to themselves or others. Communication has been limited due to the conditions of his treatment.

Hilton's team has stated that his condition is serious but stable, and his recovery is expected to be a long process. He has been able to spend time with his mother and sister. His children are reportedly safe and being cared for by immediate family. The livestream video was removed from TikTok, and Hilton's account has been suspended.
