Peralta's Struggles Continue in World Series Game 3 Loss
Right-hander gives up five runs as Rays fall to Brewers.
Freddy Peralta's promising turnaround with the Rays encountered a significant setback in Game 3 of the World Series, as the right-handed pitcher struggled in Tampa Bay's 10-1 defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Peralta surrendered two runs in the third inning, but the Brewers extended their lead with an eight-run outburst in the fifth. In the third, a bloop single by Christian Yelich drove in Jackson Chourio to give Milwaukee an early advantage. William Contreras followed with another single, scoring Jake Bauers to double the Brewers' lead.
The situation worsened for Peralta in the fifth inning. After loading the bases with two outs, Rays manager Kevin Cash opted to remove Peralta from the game. His replacement, Cam Booser, immediately allowed a single that scored two more runs.
Peralta was charged with five earned runs on seven hits over 4 ⅔ innings. He recorded four strikeouts and issued three walks.
The performance marked a disappointing end to what had been a resurgent period for Peralta, who was traded from the Mets to the Rays at the trade deadline. He previously expressed how a change in environment helped him regain his confidence. The World Series also held personal significance for Peralta, who spent his first eight major league seasons with the Brewers.
