Adva Lavie, a woman identified as a Penthouse Pet, turned away from cameras during a brief court appearance Thursday concerning allegations of theft at an Airbnb during Coachella and a violation of her bail conditions. Lavie appeared in a blue jail-issued gown and handcuffs before a Los Angeles judge.
Her attorney, Lou Shapiro, appeared via Zoom and argued that Lavie was not a flight risk, noting she remained in Beverly Hills despite being without her court-ordered GPS monitoring ankle bracelet at the time of her arrest Tuesday. "She was still in Los Angeles, she was still in Beverly Hills, she stayed locally, she had every opportunity to leave but stayed," Shapiro stated.
Prosecutors countered that cutting off an ankle monitor demonstrated a flight risk. Lavie appeared on a misdemeanor charge for allegedly missing the monitor. She did not enter a plea, and the case was continued to Sept. 10, with bail set at $20,000. However, she will remain in custody because the missing ankle bracelet violates the terms of her bail from a March arrest.
In March, Lavie was charged with six felonies, including two counts of grand theft, two counts of burglary, and two counts of unauthorized use of personal identifying information. The recent arrest on Tuesday stemmed from a new case involving alleged thefts from two individuals renting an Airbnb at Coachella in 2025. One victim reported over $25,000 in stolen personal property, including jewelry, credit cards, and cologne. Another victim reported the theft of jewelry, high-end sunglasses, and a wallet.
If convicted on the initial charges, Lavie faces up to 11 years in prison. Lavie's fiancé, identified as billionaire Stephen Cloobeck, reportedly called off their wedding in early July.
