The Pentagon has announced that Nidal Hasan, convicted in the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood that killed 13 people and wounded 32, will be executed by firing squad. This marks the first U.S. military execution in more than six decades.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the execution, with the approval of President Donald Trump, according to Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell. The specific time and location for the execution have not yet been disclosed. Army policy dictates that executions must occur within 150 days of presidential approval, but not before 60 days have passed.
