Pentagon Releases Declassified Files on Alleged Roswell UFO Incident

The Pentagon has released a new collection of declassified documents pertaining to the 1947 Roswell UFO incident, featuring an eyewitness account that claims military personnel recovered the wreckage of a spaceship and alien bodies. The report, made public recently, includes testimony from a military officer, whose name has been redacted, asserting presence at the Roswell crash site and subsequent viewing of the craft within a secured hangar known as 'Building 84.'

The Roswell incident is one of history's most famous UFO cases. The military initially issued a statement on July 8, 1947, confirming the recovery of a 'flying disc,' but later revised this to state the debris was from a weather balloon.

The witness is believed to be Walter G. Haut, the Public Information Officer for the Roswell Army Air Force Base at the time. In a statement given in 2002 and kept classified by the Pentagon until now, Haut claimed he personally observed an egg-shaped craft and multiple deceased occupants recovered from a New Mexico crash site in early July 1947. "I am convinced that what I personally observed was some type of craft and its crew from outer space," the witness stated.

He described the recovered craft as approximately 12 to 15 feet long and six feet wide, with a metallic, foil-like surface that was "paper thin yet extremely strong." The craft reportedly had no visible windows, wings, tail, or landing gear. The bodies, partially covered by a tarpaulin, were described as being about four feet in height, with heads larger than normal, comparable in size to those of a ten-year-old child.

The sealed affidavit, signed by Haut on December 26, 2002, aligns with his later public statements, including specific details about the crash. Haut died in 2005, having shared the same account with the International UFO Museum and Research Center in Roswell shortly before his death, an account that was notarized.

The declassified report indicates a staff meeting on July 8, 1947, where high-ranking officials discussed the discovery of an extensive debris field in Lincoln County and a secondary, more significant site containing the craft and bodies approximately 40 miles north of Roswell. "Samples of wreckage were passed around the table. It was unlike any material I had or have ever seen in my life. No one was able to identify the crash debris," the witness's statement read.

During the meeting, the possibility of publicly announcing an alien crash was debated. A plan was formulated to publicize the debris site northwest of Roswell to divert attention from the more crucial northern site, as civilians and media were already involved in the former.

An unidentified military officer at Roswell testified that they saw the craft and alien bodies allegedly recovered from the New Mexico crash site

Around 9:30 a.m. on July 8, Haut was reportedly instructed by the base commander, Colonel William Blanchard, to draft a press release. This release announced the recovery of a flying disc from a ranch northwest of Roswell, with Base Intelligence Officer Major Jesse Marcel tasked with transporting the material for further study. Marcel was famously photographed with debris later identified by the military as belonging to a weather balloon.

According to the declassified file and Haut's accounts, Blanchard personally escorted Haut to view the UFO and alien remains stored in Building 84, also referred to as Hangar P-3. Haut stated, "From a distance, I was able to see a couple of bodies under a canvas tarpaulin. Only the heads extended beyond the covering, and I was not able to make out any features."

The report also notes that Marcel claimed the UFO debris taken to Carswell Army Air Field in Texas was allegedly swapped for weather balloon material while he was in another room.

The U.S. government has consistently maintained that no verifiable physical evidence exists to prove the existence of UFOs or extraterrestrials. This newly released documentation provides a detailed account from an alleged eyewitness to the Roswell event.
