Pentagon Releases Declassified Files Alleging Roswell UFO Crash Recovery
Newly surfaced documents include an eyewitness account detailing the recovery of an egg-shaped craft and alien bodies.
The Pentagon has released a new set of declassified documents, including an eyewitness account that claims to detail the recovery of alien bodies and an extraterrestrial craft following the 1947 Roswell incident.
The report, made public on Friday, contains testimony from a military officer, whose name was redacted, who stated he was present at the famous event in New Mexico. The officer is believed to be Walter G. Haut, the Public Information Officer at Roswell Army Air Force Base at the time.
According to the statement, provided in 2002 and previously kept secret by the Pentagon, the US military recovered an egg-shaped craft and multiple non-human bodies from a crash site in New Mexico in early July 1947. The witness described the craft as approximately 12 to 15 feet long and six feet wide, with a metallic surface, no visible windows, wings, or tail, and composed of a material described as "paper thin yet extremely strong."
The recovered bodies were reportedly covered by a canvas tarp, but the witness described them as having heads larger than normal, standing about four feet tall, and roughly the size of a ten-year-old child.
The Roswell incident has long been a subject of public fascination and government scrutiny. The military initially issued a statement on July 8, 1947, reporting the recovery of a "flying disc," but quickly changed their narrative to claim the debris was from a weather balloon. This account, and the subsequent alleged coverup, has become one of the most well-known UFO cases in history.
The newly released documents align with sworn statements previously made by Haut, including specific details unique to his account of the Roswell crash. The US government has consistently maintained that no physical evidence exists to prove the existence of UFOs or extraterrestrials.
