Pennsylvania Woman Charged in Stabbing Deaths of Husband and Son at Resort
Authorities have charged a Pennsylvania woman with homicide in the deaths of her husband and 3-year-old son at a family resort in the Poconos.
Authorities responded to a room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pocono Township, on Monday for a suicidal caller, according to a criminal complaint.
The 911 caller, identified as 27-year-old Metallica Rose Harrison of Towanda, reported that she was "too weak to stab my neck" and "I need police," the complaint states.
During the call, Harrison allegedly said that "my husband and son are already gone in the bed," and, "They're already gone, I'm sorry," according to the complaint. She did not request help for them at any point during the call.
When responding officers arrived, Harrison allegedly told them she "wanted to be with her husband and son." Both victims were found dead on mattresses in the room. Her husband, Charles Harrison, had multiple stab wounds to his chest, and their son, identified as T.H., appeared to have a single stab wound to his chest, the complaint details.
Harrison had cuts on her left wrist and "superficial punctures about the neck," according to the complaint. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where she allegedly told medical staff that she took medication to thin her blood and expressed frustration that it was clotting. She reportedly told a detective that she was "suicidal, not stupid" and declined to speak with police.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso described the incident as a "violent domestic tragedy" while announcing homicide charges against Harrison. Authorities did not observe defensive wounds on her body, according to the complaint, which charges her with two counts of criminal homicide.
The Pocono Township Police Department stated that "This case is an isolated domestic tragedy and there is no threat to the community."
The family had checked into the lodge on September 21 and were scheduled to check out on Tuesday. A large butcher knife and a smaller knife were discovered in the bathroom; resort staff confirmed these were not lodge property.
The Great Wolf Lodge released a statement saying the resort is "cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation." The company added, "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Poconos. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of those affected."
Harrison is currently awaiting a preliminary hearing. Autopsies for the victims are scheduled to be conducted later this week.
