Pennsylvania Mom Accused of Killing Husband and Son Showed No Signs of Distress Hours Before Incident, Stepmom Says

The Pennsylvania mother accused of fatally stabbing her husband and their 3-year-old son at a Poconos resort had a video call with family hours before the incident, during which she expressed love and showed no signs of distress, according to her stepmother. The stepmother, April Thetga, now believes the killings were premeditated, citing the discovery that the murder weapon was a set of knives brought from the suspect's home.

Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, allegedly committed the act on a Sunday, the same day she had a video call with her family. "She had called and we're video chatting, and then she says she loved us very much, just like she normally would," Thetga told The Post. "It wasn’t an odd conversation. She didn’t give us any indication that anything was ever going to happen."

The family had found it unusual that Harrison and her husband, Charles, were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge for an extended period, but assumed it was due to their son Tristan's love for water parks. They were reportedly sending photos to loved ones showing they were enjoying their stay.

Following the alleged murders, police found a butcher knife on the bathroom floor and a smaller knife in the sink. Authorities report that Harrison called 911 after the incident seeking assistance on how to end her own life. The motive behind the alleged attacks remains unclear to the family, who expressed shock and devastation.

"They were always happy. This is devastating," Thetga stated, emphasizing the family's lack of understanding and their search for answers.
