A 29-year-old Pennsylvania man has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with the alleged beating death of his mother. The incident occurred Sunday morning at their home in Swickley Township.
Authorities allege that Jakob Korber beat his mother, Christin Hamilton, to death. Police reported that Hamilton was found by her daughter outside their home around 9 a.m. She had been beaten and was unclothed, wearing only a towel when she stepped outside to let out her dog. According to police, Korber then allegedly began an assault that lasted for an hour and was reportedly recorded by a camera at the residence. Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steven Limani described the event as "a horrific thing for what the victim had to go through, and it’s disgusting to watch."
Following the alleged assault, police believe Korber went to sleep in a nearby field. He was later seen walking on a road near the house around 5 p.m. where he was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police. News crews captured footage of the arrest, showing Korber walking down the road with his hands in his pockets, wearing a high-visibility vest, before surrendering to troopers.
The Westmoreland County District Attorney's office has filed charges against Korber, including criminal homicide.
