Guests raised glasses of Schramsberg 'Blanc De Noirs' in a toast, a nod to the 1972 'Toast to Peace' between Richard Nixon and Premier Zhou Enlai.
The White House chefs prepared a multi-course menu that blended classic American ingredients with subtle Asian flavors. This dinner marks a key event in the Trumps' hosting of the Chinese delegation, which began with Xi's arrival at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday evening. President Trump personally greeted Xi at the airport, an gesture described by Melania Trump as a sign of respect due to their "great relationship."
Earlier on Thursday, the Trumps welcomed Xi and Peng to the White House with an arrival ceremony, followed by a military review and bilateral meetings.
