Pavel Dorofeyev Adapts to Rangers' Pace Despite Early Struggles
Rangers forward Pavel Dorofeyev remains focused on improving his game after a slow start and a temporary demotion from the power play.
Pavel Dorofeyev, a key acquisition for the New York Rangers, is navigating a challenging start to his tenure with the team. Through his first 11 games, Dorofeyev has recorded just two goals, and recently faced a temporary removal from the team's first power-play unit.
Head coach Mike Sullivan cited Dorofeyev's failure to change lines promptly as the reason for the demotion, a recurring issue that affected the entire unit. Dorofeyev acknowledged the need for improvement in his line changes. Despite the setback, he has accepted Sullivan's decision and is working to put it behind him. He returned to practice with the top man-advantage unit on Wednesday and was on the ice with them later in the game on Monday.
This period marks a contrast to the team's otherwise successful season start. Dorofeyev joined the Rangers following a trade from the Golden Knights, arriving on a significant $77 million contract. The recent performance has been a notable departure from expectations following his acquisition.
