Paulina Porizkova Finds Strength and Anxiety Relief Through Fitness in Her Sixties

Paulina Porizkova, 61, has found a profound revelation in her sixties through a consistent gym routine that combines weightlifting and Pilates. The supermodel shared in a recent Instagram post that exercise has been instrumental in managing her severe anxiety and aiding her recovery from bilateral hip replacement surgery.

Porizkova admitted that she did not always enjoy working out, only beginning in her 40s when she realized its positive impact on her mental health. "I really used to hate to work out. And so I didn’t do it until I was in my 40s, and I realized that it really helped with my pretty severe anxiety," she stated in a voice-over accompanying footage of her exercising.

While she still expresses a preference for reading novels over strenuous activity, Porizkova understands the physical benefits. "I would much rather be reclining on the couch and reading novels," she said, "but it doesn’t really do it for my body."

Her current regimen involves three gym sessions per week, alternating focus between upper and lower body, with one day dedicated to full-body workouts. She follows advice to "lift heavy" and integrates Pilates. Exercises seen in her video include hammer curls, cable pulls, deadlifts, pull-ups, and lunges.

"What's wonderful about it is, it not only helps my severe anxiety and makes me look better, but it also has made me a lot stronger," Porizkova explained. "So, despite my 10 pound weight gain, I can dance the night away with people half my age. How about that?"

She shared a video of herself dancing at a wedding, noting that she and her husband, with the guidance of a trainer, have learned to "lift properly so we don't injure ourselves." Porizkova described the feeling of being in the best shape of their lives in their sixties as a "revelation," especially given past challenges including hip replacements, menopausal weight gain, knee trouble, and arthritis. "We have never felt more at home and at ease in our bodies," she added.

Fans have responded with messages of encouragement, with one commenter expressing hope for their own hip replacement recovery journey after seeing Porizkova's progress. "But looking at all you’re doing after having had both done, it gives me hope! Thank you! ❤️," the fan wrote.
