Paulina Porizkova Felt 'Invisible' in Her 50s Before Remarrying
The supermodel described a stark shift in male attention after turning 58, finding dating apps and social events disheartening until meeting her new husband.
Paulina Porizkova, 61, shared that she experienced a profound feeling of becoming "invisible" to men after reaching the age of 58. The supermodel described this as a significant shock, particularly after a career as a top model and a long marriage, when she re-entered the dating scene.
Porizkova recounted her experience on the dating app Raya, stating she was a user for five years and received only about four matches. "Older women are f***ing invisible on Raya," she told People. This sentiment extended beyond online platforms, as she felt overlooked at social gatherings as well. "If you want to find somebody, and you go out to events to meet people, if you are in your late 50s going out to parties, going to a bar, you're going to totally get overlooked," Porizkova explained.
She noted that men her age would often approach and engage with younger women instead. "Well, you should just shadow me at a party and see how guys my age will just walk away and follow the 30-year-old to buy her a drink instead," she said, addressing skepticism from others.
The experience was particularly jarring given her previous popularity. "I was an extremely popular date," she recalled. "So going from being the hottest girl in town to being an invisible 58-year-old was really shocking."
Porizkova's re-entry into dating followed her separation from The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek, who passed away in 2019 before their divorce was finalized. She initially anticipated dating frequently after their split but found the reality challenging.
Her search for a partner eventually led her to television writer Jeff Greenstein, 62. The couple met on Raya and reportedly hit it off immediately, connecting through extensive conversations and video calls. After three years of dating, Porizkova and Greenstein were married in July.
Greenstein praised his wife, describing her as "the best-read person in the world," "quick-witted," and "insightful." He also commented on her intelligence, stating, "I had no idea the depths of her intelligence." He added that she cares about social justice, speaks four languages, and is "sexy as hell."
