The comedian successfully retrieved his card after an attempted theft at a cashpoint in north London, according to his wife.
Comedian Paul Whitehouse thwarted an attempt by a mugger to steal his bank card at a cashpoint in north London on Friday night. His wife, Dr. Mine Conkbayir, revealed the incident on social media, stating that Whitehouse had been on his way to purchase medication when the attack occurred behind a Sainsbury's store in Islington.
According to Dr. Conkbayir, Whitehouse, 68, fought back and managed to recover his card, causing the assailant to flee empty-handed. Despite the successful defense, Whitehouse was left feeling frustrated by the encounter. He had been returning after taking their daughter to a football match when the incident took place.
Dr. Conkbayir shared the event on Instagram with the intention of raising awareness. "I don't mean 'to patronise, but please be super vigilant," she wrote. Whitehouse is known for his roles in "The Fast Show" and "Gone Fishing," and is slated to portray Argus Filch in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series.
