Paul Whitehouse Confronts Cashpoint Robber
The comedian fought back against an assailant attempting to steal his bank card outside a London Sainsbury's.
Comedian Paul Whitehouse successfully resisted an attempt by a mugger to steal his bank card at a cashpoint in north London. The incident occurred on Friday night as Whitehouse was withdrawing medication for his wife.
According to his wife, Dr. Mine Conkbayir, the assailant tried to snatch the card from Whitehouse, 68, outside a Sainsbury's in Islington. Whitehouse managed to retrieve his card, and the perpetrator fled empty-handed.
Dr. Conkbayir shared the event on social media, expressing her husband's frustration and a hope that raising awareness could help others. "I don't mean 'to patronise, but please be super vigilant," she wrote on Instagram, relaying Whitehouse's decision to make the incident public.
Whitehouse is known for his roles in "The Fast Show" and the series "Gone Fishing." He is also slated to portray Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series.
