Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, did not appear in Napa County court for his arraignment on charges related to a Fourth of July weekend hit-and-run crash. His attorney, Amanda Bevins, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Pelosi faces one count of misdemeanor hit-and-run driving and one infraction for an unlawful turning movement. The charges stem from an incident on July 3, when a witness reported a northbound vehicle rear-ended a parked car on Yount Street in Yountville, pushing the vehicle onto the curb. The witness stated the driver of the involved vehicle briefly stopped before leaving the scene.

Deputies located Pelosi’s damaged convertible partially blocking Yountville Cross Road. According to investigators, Pelosi stated he knew he had struck something but did not realize what it was and continued driving until his car became disabled. A preliminary screening indicated Pelosi had a 0.00 blood-alcohol level, and authorities ruled out alcohol as a factor.

A spokesperson for Paul and Nancy Pelosi stated after the crash that Paul Pelosi had personally apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and assured them he would take responsibility for the damage. Photos obtained by news outlets showed the severely damaged Tesla that Pelosi allegedly struck before leaving the scene in his convertible.

This incident occurred approximately four years after Pelosi was arrested for driving under the influence following a May 2022 crash in Napa County. In that prior incident, he had been driving home from a dinner when his Porsche collided with another vehicle.
