Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has personally apologized to the owner of a vehicle he allegedly struck in a Napa Valley hit-and-run crash, a spokesperson for the family stated. He has assured the owner that he would take responsibility for the damage.
According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a crash on Yount Street in Yountville around 2:30 p.m. on a recent Friday. A witness reported seeing a vehicle collide with a parked car on the shoulder, causing significant damage to the parked vehicle. The witness told dispatchers that the driver of the moving vehicle briefly stopped before driving away from the scene.
Deputies later located Pelosi on Yountville Cross Road, where his convertible had reportedly become disabled and was partially blocking the roadway. The vehicle sustained damage to its front right side. Authorities said Pelosi acknowledged striking something but stated he did not know what it was. He continued to drive until his vehicle stopped functioning, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators determined that alcohol was not a factor in the collision. Pelosi underwent a preliminary alcohol screening test that registered a blood alcohol content of 0.00. He was not taken into custody at the scene.
The statement from the Pelosi family spokesperson indicated that Speaker Pelosi would not be commenting further on the matter, describing it as a private issue. The incident involves a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge recommendation for Paul Pelosi, 86.
