Paul Pelosi, 86, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has been formally charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run and an infraction for unsafe turning movement. The charges stem from a July 3 incident in Napa County, California.
The Napa County District Attorney's Office announced the charges on Friday. According to the criminal complaint, Pelosi allegedly struck a parked Tesla and then left the scene without identifying himself or leaving required information. Deputies located Pelosi approximately a half-mile from the incident, where he reportedly stated he had intended to return.
Prosecutors contend that Pelosi made an unsafe turning movement before colliding with the parked vehicle, causing property damage. These actions form the basis for both the misdemeanor charge and the traffic infraction.
