Paul Pelosi, 86, the husband of U.S. Representative Nancy Pelosi, has been charged with a misdemeanor following an alleged hit-and-run incident in Yountville, California, on Thursday. The Napa County Sheriff's Department stated that Pelosi crashed into a parked car on the shoulder of a roadway shortly after 2:30 p.m.
According to a press release from the sheriff's department, Pelosi "admitted to hitting something, but said he did not know what he had hit, so he kept driving." His vehicle then became disabled, preventing further movement. Authorities identified the car involved as belonging to Pelosi, noting significant damage to its front right side, consistent with the collision.
The California Highway Patrol located Pelosi's brown convertible, which was partially obstructing the roadway, shortly after the crash. While Pelosi was not arrested at the scene, he was charged with a misdemeanor offense. The incident also prompted a referral to the Department of Motor Vehicles for re-evaluation, a process authorities indicated is common for elderly drivers.
The Napa County Sheriff's Department confirmed that Pelosi's vehicle, a brown convertible, collided with a parked car on a roadway in Yountville. The incident occurred on Young Street.
