Paul McCartney Reveals His Condition for Performing at Swift-Kelce Wedding

Paul McCartney shared a surprising detail about his performance at the July 3 wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Friday. The former Beatle revealed that Swift had asked him to sing the 1964 hit "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at her wedding.

However, McCartney proposed a specific condition for his performance of the classic tune. "I said, you should sing along, and you should sing it to your man," McCartney recounted to Kimmel, prompting laughter from the audience. Kimmel responded, "Seems like reasonable advice!"

The song, released in 1964, was The Beatles' first No. 1 single in the United States and is credited with igniting Beatlemania in the U.S. after the band performed it on "The Ed Sullivan Show."

Page Six previously reported that after Swift and Kelce exchanged vows, Swift's mother, Andrea, invited guests into the reception room where a stage had been set up. McCartney performed there, alongside Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks, who was also said to have performed at the star-studded event.

McCartney and Swift have a longstanding friendship. They have appeared together on the cover of Rolling Stone, and McCartney has publicly praised Swift's talent. In a May interview with BBC Radio 2, McCartney described Swift as "very good" and "very clever," noting the parallels between her level of fame and that experienced by The Beatles. He added, "But I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth."

Swift has also shown support for McCartney, attending his concert at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this year and previously being spotted at one of his Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium.
