Paul Hollywood Jokes About Throuple on 'Bake Off'

Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood made an awkward joke about being in a throuple with his "TV partner" Nigella Lawson and his wife during Tuesday's episode.

The Channel 4 show featured Audience Choice Week, where viewers at home selected each challenge.

During the signature challenge, where bakers were joined by relatives to create an exquisite cheesecake, contestant Gabe and his partner Ellis discussed their cheesecake inspired by a chocolate bar. Gabe referred to their trio as a "boyband" and a "throuple."

Hollywood responded by joking, "I have a TV partner, and I have a home partner." Gabe quipped back, "Oh, so you're in one as well, really." Lawson appeared uncomfortable, replying, "Erm, well... not quite."

A throuple is defined as a committed, romantic relationship involving three consenting individuals.

Viewers have recently praised Lawson for her apparent "love of food," with many commenting on her enthusiastic enjoyment of the bakes.

Elsewhere in the episode, a new format change for the technical challenge, where bakers created anything from memory, drew mixed reactions from viewers. Some described the format as "gimmicky" and "chaotic," while others found it to be a "breath of fresh air."

Clara was named Star Baker, while Shannon became the second contestant to be eliminated.

Moyin received the first Hollywood handshake of the series for his cheesecake during the signature challenge.

For the showstopper, contestants created "wearable bakes." Clara's handbag impressed the judges, but Shannon's biscuit showstopper was deemed not ambitious enough.

Judges assessed the bakers on their performance throughout the week. Hollywood felt Shannon's final bake was overbaked and lacked the ambition required for a showstopper, a sentiment echoed by Lawson.
