Patriots Running Back TreVeyon Henderson Cleared to Play After Ankle Injury
Henderson declared himself healthy and ready to return to action for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has been cleared to play in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the player announced Thursday. Henderson missed the Patriots' season opener against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury.
"I’m ready to go. Thank God I’m healed up now," Henderson said. "I’m excited to be back out here with my teammates." He sustained the injury during practice in late August.
Henderson, a second-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, was a significant contributor in his rookie season, appearing in all 17 regular-season games. He recorded 10 touchdowns and rushed for 911 yards in 2025.
In Henderson's absence during Week 1, Rhamondre Stevenson handled the majority of the carries in the Patriots' backfield. Stevenson had 51 rushing yards on 18 carries and added five receptions in the Patriots' 13-10 loss to the Seahawks. The team's offense struggled in the opener, averaging 4.1 yards per play, which was among the lowest outputs in the league for Week 1.
Henderson expressed that missing the season opener was frustrating but used the time for personal growth. "I’m thankful. It just continued to draw me closer to the Lord, and I’m thankful for the time, thankful for the growth," he said. "I wanted to be out there [last week] pretty bad, it was a good matchup, good game, I think we competed really hard."
The return of Henderson is expected to provide a boost to the Patriots' offense. It remains to be seen how the team will divide the workload between Henderson and Stevenson in the upcoming games.
