Patriots Guard Alijah Vera-Tucker Placed on Injured Reserve Again
The offensive lineman's hamstring injury marks his fourth career stint on injured reserve.
New England Patriots offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker has been placed on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. This marks his fourth career placement on injured reserve, sidelining him for at least the next four games.
Vera-Tucker sustained the injury during the Patriots' 26-19 victory over his former team, the New York Jets, on Sunday. He did not participate in practice leading up to Thursday night's game against the Chicago Bears.
This latest injury adds to a history of setbacks for the 27-year-old. In six NFL seasons, Vera-Tucker has been placed on injured reserve multiple times. He suffered a season-ending triceps injury in 2022, followed by a torn Achilles in 2023. Prior to the start of the 2025 season, he again tore his triceps, which caused him to miss the entire campaign.
The former first-round draft pick signed a three-year, $42 million contract with the Patriots during the offseason after five seasons with the Jets. He had started at left guard in all six games for the Patriots this season before his latest injury.
The Patriots' offensive line depth is further tested by the absence of starting right guard Ben Brown, who is sidelined with a knee injury. Veteran Matt Pryor and Walter Rouse, who is expected to make his NFL debut, are slated to fill the guard positions. The Patriots, currently with a 4-2 record, are seeking to extend their winning streak to four games.
