New England Patriots Head Coach Mike Vrabel found himself in the middle of a skirmish during a joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The former linebacker, known for his hands-on coaching style, entered the fray after punches were exchanged between players following a field goal attempt.
Reports indicate that Philadelphia defensive lineman Jalen Carter may have verbally instigated the situation. Vrabel, 51, attempted to break up the altercation. This marks not the first time Vrabel has stepped into a fight during practice in his tenure with the Patriots, for whom he played from 2001-2008, winning three Super Bowls.
Last year, Vrabel sustained a cut on his face while breaking up a fight during a joint practice with the Commanders. Patriots rookie Gabe Jacas commented on Vrabel's involvement, stating, "That's Vrabel. He's that type of coach to get in a scrap, and he's a hands-on coach, so I didn't expect any less."
Milton Williams, a defensive lineman, told Mass Live that Vrabel "still thinks he can get out there and play, and he still wants to. All that. He’s still talking noise every day, pushing guys, and, you know, that’s what makes him him. And guys are going to continue to get better with him as our coach."
