Patrick Stewart Laments Fewer Roles for Aging Actors in Final Interview
The iconic actor, who passed away at 86, expressed his continued passion for acting despite age-related career challenges.
In his final interview, conducted just months before his death, veteran actor Patrick Stewart reflected on the diminishing opportunities for older actors in the industry. Stewart, who passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86, stated that "fewer and fewer available roles" exist for actors as they age.
"As any actor my age will tell you, there are fewer and fewer available roles as we get older," Stewart told TV Insider in July. Despite this observation, the legendary performer expressed no desire to retire.
Stewart continued to receive compelling offers and found joy in taking on new challenges, such as voicing a pig's head in Riz Ahmed's series "Bait." He emphasized his enduring commitment to his craft, saying, "I can’t imagine ever officially ‘retiring.’ I’ll always and forever be an actor."
