Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is actively engaged in family activities during the NFL offseason as he progresses in his recovery from a knee injury. Mahomes' wife, Brittany, recently shared glimpses of their family's summer adventures with their three children: Sterling, Bronze, and Golden. The family of five has been enjoying various outings, including a visit to the zoo, where they observed elephants and other animals.
During their zoo visit, Mahomes was seen holding their youngest child, Golden, while Brittany interacted with their older children. The family also experienced a safari-like outing, observing giraffes from a vehicle. Golden was noted to show interest in anteaters, with Brittany encouraging her to pet one. Sterling, the eldest, was seen guiding her younger siblings, displaying a protective older sister role.
Beyond their adventurous excursions, the Mahomes family also enjoyed leisure time, relaxing by the pool in matching swimwear. Despite his ongoing recovery, Mahomes appeared active and engaged, lifting his children and assisting them in viewing the animals.
Mahomes underwent season-ending surgery in December after sustaining ligaments in his left knee. He has been rehabilitating the injury in Kansas City and has participated in the Chiefs' offseason program. Mahomes has expressed his commitment to being ready for the start of the upcoming NFL season.
Earlier in June, Mahomes finalized a new contract with the Chiefs, reportedly making him the first NFL player to sign a deal worth over half a billion dollars. This restructured agreement extends his contract by two years, potentially pushing his total earnings past $500 million. The quarterback's original 10-year, $450 million contract, signed in 2020, was a landmark deal. The current extension, valued at $504.75 million with potential incentives reaching $522.25 million, ties him to the Chiefs through the 2033 season.
In addition to family time and contract negotiations, the Mahomes couple recently attended a World Cup match, witnessing Lionel Messi score a hat-trick as Argentina defeated Algeria. They are also reportedly expected to attend the wedding of friends Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce in New York.
