Patrick Clancy was seen taking an hours-long walk in New York City on Sunday, two days after the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, was declared a mistrial in Massachusetts. Clancy, dressed in gym shorts and a t-shirt and wearing sunglasses, strolled through Manhattan.

The sighting comes days after a jury in Plymouth, Massachusetts, was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in Lindsay Clancy's trial. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial Friday after the jury deliberated for over 37 hours across five weeks of testimony. The panel, composed of nine women and three men, had indicated it was deadlocked in multiple notes to the judge.
Lindsay Clancy has admitted to killing her three children—Cora, five, Dawson, three, and Callan, eight months—in 2023. She claims she was overmedicated and suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the deaths. Prosecutors argued during the trial that the killings were intentional and planned, while her defense focused on her mental state.
An emergency appeal by Lindsay Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, to prevent the mistrial was unsuccessful. A holdout juror's alleged bias towards individuals with mental disabilities was cited as a reason for the deadlock.
Patrick Clancy testified during the trial but was not a consistent presence at the Massachusetts courthouse. He has since relocated from suburban Massachusetts to a Manhattan high-rise with his new wife, a fertility specialist. Public records indicate he moved to New York in May 2023, four months after the children's deaths.

Following the mistrial declaration, Patrick Clancy's attorney, David Meier, released a statement. "Patrick Clancy is grateful to the Court and to the jurors for their hard work, their commitment, and their perseverance," the statement read. "The loss of Patrick’s children is something from which he will never recover and from which there will never be closure. The prospect of reliving this tragedy through another trial is extraordinarily painful for Patrick, for his family, and for all of us."

Prosecutors now have several options, including retrying Lindsay Clancy on potentially reduced charges or seeking a judge-determined verdict instead of a jury trial. True crime communities have also seen speculation regarding Patrick Clancy's potential involvement, though he has not been charged in connection with the children's deaths.
