Patrick Clancy, the ex-husband of Lindsay Clancy, has remarried and established a new life in New York City, hundreds of miles from the Massachusetts home where their three children died. Lindsay Clancy faces three counts of first-degree murder in the January 2023 deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan, all under age 6. Their deaths occurred at the family's Duxbury residence.
The prosecution has concluded its case, and the defense is presenting arguments that Lindsay Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings. Patrick Clancy, a sales executive, divorced Lindsay and moved to New York City in the spring of 2023, shortly after the children's deaths. He married Dr. Rachel Danis in the spring of 2026.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington acknowledged Patrick Clancy's profound loss, noting his efforts to move forward with his life, including his remarriage and new family. Danis, who reportedly moved into Patrick Clancy's Upper East Side apartment in 2025, has spoken publicly about her desire to become a mother.
Patrick Clancy and his family founded the Heard Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting parents experiencing perinatal mental illness. The foundation was established in memory of Cora, Dawson, and Callan. In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, Patrick Clancy posted on a GoFundMe page, expressing forgiveness for his ex-wife and calling for peace for her.
During his testimony, Patrick Clancy, while visibly emotional when discussing his children, maintained a composed demeanor. He shared memories of Cora's interest in princesses, Dawson's fondness for Paw Patrol and firefighters, and Callan's happy disposition as a baby. He recounted to investigators that Lindsay Clancy had told him she had attempted suicide and that the children were in the basement, without indicating they were harmed.
Testimony in the trial has included statements from a chaplain, Sheila Cavanaugh, who visited Lindsay Clancy in the hospital days after the children's deaths. Cavanaugh testified that Lindsay Clancy stated, "I am so glad my children are safe." The chaplain responded that the children were safe in heaven with God.
Susan Clancy, Patrick Clancy's mother and Lindsay Clancy's former mother-in-law, also testified. A criminal defense attorney, Donna Rotunno, noted that Susan Clancy was supportive of Lindsay, appearing sympathetic to her situation despite the loss of her grandchildren.
