Patrick Clancy Describes Son's Death in '60 Minutes' Interview
Grieving father recounts holding his infant son Callan as he died days after being strangled by his ex-wife.
Patrick Clancy has described the heartbreaking moments his 8-month-old son, Callan, died in his arms days after his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, strangled their three children. The interview, conducted by CBS correspondent Ross Douthat for "60 Minutes," aired Sunday night.
Clancy recounted learning that Callan had a heartbeat after he discovered his two older children, Cora, 5, and Dawson, 3, had been strangled with exercise bands in their Duxbury, Massachusetts home in January 2023. Callan was airlifted to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he remained alive for four days.
"I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live. And I … I remember just thinking, ‘Just gimme one. Just gimme one kid, and I would raise him as best I could, and I would give him the best life I possibly could. I’d tell him about his brother and sister,’" Clancy told Douthat.
He described holding Callan and telling him he was sorry before the infant died in his arms. "And I got to … I got to hold him. I got to lay down next to him. And he died in my arms," Clancy revealed.
The interview comes weeks after a mistrial was declared in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial for the killings of the couple's three children. The mistrial was declared in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on September 4, 2026.
