Patrick Clancy Completes Chicago Marathon Weeks After Ex-Wife's Mistrial
Patrick Clancy finished the Chicago Marathon in under four hours, a little over a month after a jury failed to reach a verdict in the triple murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy.
Patrick Clancy, 38, completed the Chicago Marathon on Sunday with a time of three hours, 35 minutes and 29 seconds, placing 12,040th overall. This finish comes approximately five weeks after a mistrial was declared in the case of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of murdering their three young children.
Lindsay Clancy, 36, faces charges in the January 2023 deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, at their Duxbury, Massachusetts home. A jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision in her trial, leading to an 11-1 deadlock and the declaration of a mistrial in September.
During the trial, Patrick Clancy testified that his ex-wife had been experiencing intrusive thoughts about harming their children and was taking a combination of prescription medications. He told jurors he did not believe she posed an imminent threat. He discovered the children in the basement of their home with exercise bands around their necks after returning from errands and found Lindsay Clancy injured outside the residence. She had reportedly attempted suicide. Lindsay Clancy survived but was left paralyzed and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, claiming severe postpartum depression and psychosis at the time of the deaths.
Patrick Clancy has described Lindsay Clancy as a "very dedicated mother" and stated he believes her mental illness was the cause of the children's deaths. He has also spoken about the immense toll the events took on him, including suicidal ideations. He relocated to New York in April 2023 to grieve privately.
Clancy's new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, who is pregnant, was seen supporting him at the Chicago Marathon. The couple met while jogging in Central Park, and Danis, a fertility doctor, has said their romance began with that encounter. Friends have noted their shared passion for fitness, with photos showing them hiking and running together as early as February 2024.
It remains unclear whether Lindsay Clancy will face a new trial.
