Patrick Clancy and New Wife Rent Out NYC Apartment Amid Ex-Wife's Potential Retrial

Patrick Clancy and his new wife, Rachel Danis, are reportedly renting out their one-bedroom apartment in East Midtown, Manhattan. The listing for the 700-square-foot condo, which comes furnished and includes amenities like a dishwasher and in-unit laundry, became available on December 11 for $6,550 per month. It is unclear where the couple, who married in April, plans to relocate.

The rental listing emerges as prosecutors in Massachusetts deliberate whether to retry Clancy's ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, for the January 2023 murder of their three young children. A previous trial for the triple homicide ended in an 11-1 jury deadlock, resulting in a mistrial.

Lindsay Clancy, 36, was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months old. The former labor and delivery nurse allegedly strangled the children with exercise bands in the basement of their Duxbury home after sending her husband out to run errands. She then reportedly attempted suicide by cutting her wrists and neck and jumping from a second-floor window, an act that left her paralyzed from the waist down.

During the trial, Clancy's defense argued that she was suffering from severe postpartum depression and psychosis at the time of the killings and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Patrick Clancy testified that his ex-wife had been experiencing intrusive thoughts about harming their children and was taking various prescription medications. However, he stated he did not believe she intended to act on these thoughts. He recounted returning home on January 24, 2023, to find a bloody crime scene and his wife on the ground, who then told him she had attempted suicide and the children were in the basement.

First responders discovered all three children deceased with exercise bands around their necks. Despite the circumstances, Patrick Clancy has publicly described his ex-wife as a "very dedicated mother" and attributed her actions to mental illness. He has since moved to New York, stating he sought a place where he could grieve alone.

Lindsay Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, has argued that there is insufficient evidence to charge his client and questioned the investigation's thoroughness. He contended that the prosecution's case was based on speculation and that his client had no memory of the events after waking from a coma. Reddington also argued that the state failed to prove that Lindsay Clancy was suffering from a mental defect or disease at the time, or that she lacked the ability to control her actions, two requirements for criminal responsibility. A prosecutor dismissed these arguments as "laughable."
